She was the epitome of grace. She had a calm air about her, and was loved by her neighbours and acquaintances for her humility. Nyina wa Nginyo, as everyone in Miroleni village knew her, treated everyone with respect and dignity. And even as her long illness assailed her, Virginia maintained herself with her usual grace, and always beamed her lovely smile to anyone she met.

She was blessed with tremendous wisdom, which illuminated her life and the lives of her family members. She always knew what to say, and knew how to say it. And, as her long years of fellowship at St Lukes Catholic Church, Subukia Parish, might attest, Virginia remained steadfast in her Christian faith despite the heartaches that beset her later years, including the deaths of her three children.

Virginia, who died aged 79 on February 05, 2019, was born at Kabuku Sub-location in Ngecha, Kiambu County.

She was enrolled in Divinity Primary School, today known as St Paul Primary School, Limuru. In 1959, she married Hunter Ndumbo, the love of her life, and together they were blessed with nine children, namely the late Faith Wanjiku, Peter Nginyo, the late Susan Mukami, the late Joseph Gitau, Rahab Muthoni, Peris Njeri, Jane Njeri, Peninah Wanjiku and David Karanja.

She relocated to Nakuru County from Ngecha back in 1959, and made Nakuru her home until her demise. She was blessed with many grandchildren.

Virginia Wambui Ndumbo, our dear mum, grandmother, friend and neighbor, was buried yesterday at her home in Miroleni Village, Subukia Sub-County, Nakuru County.
