She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was also an avid singer whose beautiful voice matched an angel’s. And she put her God-given singing talent to good use at St Anne’s Sega Catholic Church, where she was a soloist for many years. Cornelia Ojwang Akuom will be remembered as a committed member of the local Catholic parish.

The family of Mzee Leonard Akuom Ogutu wishes to send their heartfelt appreciation to everyone who supported them with prayers and materially during Cornelia’s funeral. Special thanks to St Anne’s Sega Parish and Joka Monica Sega, who tirelessly accompanied her in prayers during her life here on earth and her difficult last days, and supported the family all through during the funeral. We wish to convey our special thanks to all the doctors and caregivers who took care of Cornelia. To her sisters, brothers, sons and daughters who were beside her all through, thank you. To her family and friends for giving her a send-off befitting the matriarch she was, we thank you. To the funeral committees in Sega, Kisumu and Nairobi, we thank you.
