You were our first teacher, our first confidante and our first guide. You were a kind soul who was always there for all who came to you with their troubles. Mum, you were a woman who did everything in your capacity to give your children the best, investing countless hours in raising them to be kind to family and strangers. You were strong from the beginning to the end. Any success we attained at any level should rightly be credited to your commitment as a mother. But most importantly, you instilled values in our lives like entrepreneurship, a strong work ethic, honesty, commitment to family and faith. You’d probably have called yourself ‘mlachake’.

Your efforts have not been in vain as you sacrificed and fought to build our character and to give us opportunities that helped to shape our lives.

You taught us to love, pray, trust and have faith in the Lord. What more could we ask for?

We lay you to rest on Friday, September 28, 2018 at your farm in Gakwegori, Embu County. We still wonder to ourselves over and over again whether it is indeed true that you’ve left us. We, your children – Joan, Victor, Lucia and Stephen – will always miss you.

With sorrow in our hearts but gratitude to God for a life well spent, we say farewell, mummy. Goodnight, mummy. Rest well. We loved you to death.
