Dr Joseph Liaulo, 34, was driving his Toyota RAV 4 motor vehicle  in the company of one of his colleagues when he lost control and rolled several times before landing in a ditch.

He died on the spot . The accident occured at Ratili area near Mulot trading center as he was heading to Kilgoris on his normal assignments.

The young vet will be remembered for his efforts in advocating for the welfare of donkeys when he worked with Farming System Kenya(FSK)Narok before moving to a French company dubbed Ceva where he was working until he met his death.

During his stint as a Vet with FSK in Narok, Dr Liaulo fought donkey thefts and slaughtering of donkeys for skin purposes and succeeded in reducing the cases.

“In 2016,we lost hundreds of donkeys to thieves and some found slaughtered in thickets.It was a crisis and Dr Liaulo played a crucial role by organizing numerous demonstration to compel security to act and it really worked.Right now our donkeys are safe,” said Joyce Nampaso,Women Donkey owners chairperson.

Friends and colleagues described him as a jovial and ambitious man who always did his job professionally and passionately.

“His death is a huge blow to all of us.Dr Liaulo was a great boss who believed in nurturing and professionalism. He was an inspiring man,” said Sarah Wambui, Program Officer, FSK.

Dr Liaulo is survived by a wife and two-year old daughter.
