Kenya media fraternity is mourning the demise of Anthony Macharia Kariuki who died on Friday night following a road accident, just a few metres away from his home in Buruburu. 

According to reports, Mr Kariuki was knocked by a tourist van at around 10pm as he crossed the road to his residence. 

Kariuki served as an Online editor for Nation Media Group before joining DP William Ruto’s communication unit.

Kariuki has been described as a committed person by both his boss, DP Ruto, and his former employer Nation Media Group. 

William Ruto, described him as an industrious person with hunger and stamina for knowledge in his Saturday condolence tweet. 

“Anthony Kariuki. Kariuki was sharp, dependable, industrious, committed and creative with a positive attitude. We will miss his hunger and stamina for knowledge,” said DP Ruto in a tweet. 

Daily nation described him as a very dependable journalist in their staff who was punctual and did his job passionately.

In a tribute by the local daily, Kariuki was featured a ‘digital news guru’ and ‘the quintessential editor who ensured he broke news with speed and accuracy.’

From the condolences, messages sent by everyone close to him, long and short of Kariuki was a loved one.
